On june 27 1862,
Johann Puch was born in Sakuschak in Untersteiermark
(today Yugoslavia territory). At age 8, he left his house and became assistant
to a mill-owner. At age 12 until after his military duty until 21, he worked
as a locksmith. Lateron, in 1885, he became facinated with bicycles.
In 1889 he started
his own bicycle factory in Graz, Austria.
In 1898 he produced his first own-developed Puch engine;
a two-cilinder type. Johann Puch died 19-07-1914,
during a conversation with some business friends.
But the company he left was one of the best and deserves a place
amongst names like Daimler, Benz, Norton, Renault, Lancia or Ford.
The name Puch was here to stay forever!
Of course, Puch was
a leader in innovation and new technologies.
They designed revolutionary bicycles, like the all-integrated daily bike
(above),
or the world's first carbon-frame bike in 1978 (below).
But, as you know, Puch build more than bicycles.... much more!!
